babies and public transportation

we were still down to 1 car on monday, and we needed BADLY to go to the market. aaron needed the car for work (since now he's on days...yay!!!), so emma and i took a trip to the market using north america's best transportation system.

a one-way trip using bus and train combined only took us 30 minutes, and everything went smoothly. my only trouble is trying to make the whole stroller and riding on the bus issue work. i don't think buses and strollers mix too well. we were asked to either break down the stroller or sit in the back. that's not a problem when we were 2 of 4 people on the bus, but what if it was during a busier time? or if you have more than one small child with you where having a stroller is a necessity? i can't imagine.

anyway, emma had the best time riding the bus and the train. she loved the whole experience. plenty of excited squeals on the way there and back. and as always, she managed to make some "friends" with people on the bus and on the train.

i can't believe we haven't used the rta more often. i think reading their maps, schedules and navigating through their website was a little daunting at first. especially when you're not familiar with the area. that alone deterred me from trying out public transport. but we've been here 3 years now, and it's hard for me to imagine getting "lost" in cleveland.

I think kids have more fun on public transportation than us adults because they don't have to worry about missing the stop. Glad it went well and sorry to hear about the stroller woes. I have seen people trying to navigate our bus system with strollers and it does not look like fun yet in many cases is a necessity.
