a sentimental moment

we were out in the metroparks one day enjoying nature and the pleasant weather.  we walked along the path watching the squirrels, pointing out the cars above the valley, and listening to the river.

this summer is different from the last.  i watch her take the concrete path all on her own.  no help from mama.  our walk was filled with questions and observations.  she seems so eager to learn about everything around her.  and i enjoy watching her soak up every bit of information i give her.  encouraging her inquisitive nature.  supporting her more now from a distance rather than right by her side.  letting go a little bit more than the last year so that she can continue to develop her own personality.  her own likes and dislikes (which may not be like my own...as difficult as that may be).

looking up at that valley reminds me that there will be times when she'll feel like her life is like trying to climb that huge cliff.  it looks difficult.  nearly impossible. especially if you do it alone.  but that's when i'll be there again.  right by her side.  to help her achieve the impossible.  to guide all of our (present and future) children to the one who will truly help us achieve all things, no matter how impossible it may seem.

that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being [ephesians 3:16 esv]
