10 years later

last thursday, we celebrated 10 years of marriage.

10 years.

the first thing that came to mind (for both of us) was that one clip from grosse pointe blank...

ha! i know, i know, not really romantic, but that's how we roll sometimes.

this is actually our first anniversary where we got to celebrate it in the city where we first met and tied the knot.  it's kind of funny to think how we have made it full circle...back to the very beginning of our life together.

we spent a lovely morning at the place where we said "i do." well, not the exact spot.  it was raining on our wedding day, so a last minute plan b was instituted instead exchanging our vows on top of kite hill as originally planned.  but, hey!  hiccups in your plan sometimes make for the best stories, right?

my dear sister and her fiancee came over for the evening so that we could enjoy some time together celebrating 10 years. probably one of the best gifts couple with young kids could receive: a night out together.  it was a great evening spent at one of our favorite restaurants, reflecting and reminiscing over the past 10 years.  my heart was full (and so was my belly!).

looking back on our life together, i am thankful to be able to share it with my man. i'm not going to pretend that it was perfect.  there were hard times, there were good times, there was bliss, there was heartbreak, there were tears, there was laughter, and there was everything in between. but what makes this whole marriage-life journey so sweet is that i get to share it with him.

happy 10 years, my love, my best friend, my partner in crime...thank you for loving me unconditionally, encouraging me, supporting me, and making me feel beautiful everyday.

{not so} wordless wednesday::on this day

then and now...

9 years ago today, i married my best friend (as cheesy as that may sound, it's totally true).  my #2 guy (i know you know what it means, babe).  life together has been AMAZING.  a thrill.  an adventure.

we've laughed together, cried together, gotten stressed out together, been stupid together...it's been so neat to reflect on how much our marriage has grown, especially these last 2 years.  so much crazy stuff has happened, but i'm thankful they did because it has drawn us closer together.  i think we make a pretty good team!

you keep me grounded when i want to have a panic attack.  you always make me laugh when i'm having a crappy day. you bring a new perspective when all i can see is one way (which is usually my way).  you help simplify my life (that's a good thing) when i want to over-complicate.  you bring me lilly's handmade chocolates when i need a pick-me-up...except now you're gonna have to FedEx them since we're in a different state.

i'm thankful that God brought us together, and that he has made you my ultimate partner in crime on this earth.  thank you for loving me, for encouraging me, and for supporting me.  happy anniversary, my love!

more wordless wednesday here and here.

eight is great

11 years ago (wow...i think i just made myself look old) this dude with spiky blond hair and a sense of humor that i somehow found funny caught my eye.

8 years of marriage and 5 kids later, he is still that dude that caught my eye 11 years ago.

the journey to the here and now together has been amazing.  i have seen both of us grow and change for the better.  i have seen our love and friendship grow and strengthen with each year.  we are each others best friend, as cheesy as that may sound.  we understand each others quirks, and have no qualms about being open and honest with each other (whether it's regarding a serious or lighthearted matter).  i take his feedback seriously (even when it comes to clothes...though sometimes i may not agree), and always appreciate his way of not sugar-coating things.  we are in-step with each other and we know each other like the back of our own hands.

being with my man has been so, so good, and i'm quite certain that it will only get better with time.  kind of like good wine, right?

to my partner in crime and my number 2 guy: i love you dearly, my sweet baboo.  i'm thankful that we can share in the adventure that God has planned for us.
